After reading around here and elsewhere, I've decided to do the "just go and hope for the best" thing in mid-July or early August. If I fail to get a job and it's just a long vacation, so be it.

What's the minimum amount of $$$ you folks who've been would recommend taking? I'm pretty travel-savvy and don't mind roughing it; I plan on finding a home-stay family in whichever city I choose while I look for a job.

A bonus would be any info about small to mid-sized cities out of the jungle (i.e. high elevation) that are still big enough to have a need for English teachers. I'm not a big fan of hot & humid and right now I'm living in high-elevation Arizona (Navajo Nation), which I love. Anyone know about Campo Grande or Belo Horizonte or other inland cities?

Thanks....
