Does anyone know the situation for South Africans getting work permits amd proper paperwork for Jiangsu province, where the main city is Shanghai?

I heard a new list had come out by the authorities which only recognised USA, Canada, NZ, OZ, UK and Ireland.

I also know a South Africa who was offered a job by a prestigous university but their application for a work permit failed because of this list thing.

I also noticed though, that some language schools in the province still listed South Africans in their ads

Anyone got some news on this issue?

Shanghai is not part of Jiangsu. It is one of four municipalities in China and has its own local government.

Thanks, sorry I got things mixed up a little. I know the visa was refused in Nanjing which is part of Jiangsu Province.

Anyone know the situation for South Africans there? I heard there was a list and SA never appeared on the list , hence the refusal

It is best (as in having more likelihood of success), if you have an Anglo surname and if you have pretty well unaccented English offer to phone or make an excuse to do so.
Go for perceived hard to staff areas and schools.
Best

did you include a large color photo? they may have simply glanced at
the application from an 'african.' poor photocopies won't do your virtues
justice.
