Can someone tell me how my situation will be handled in China? I applied for a post, signed a contract and was sent an invite letter and FEC. However, I changed my mind about the job (salary was too low to be sustainable) and did not apply for a visa. The university asked me whether I wanted to cancel the contract, but didn't say anything else after that.
I was offered a different job and contract in late October. It is now December and there is still no invite letter or FEC. I am wondering if the fact I didn't follow through on the first job offer is going to negatively impact me getting a visa, especially as the new job is in a province which is piloting the new system. Will that previous invite letter cause me problems? As the weeks pass, I don't know if the hold up is indifference, general incompetence, or my application has stalled. Can this be normal? I have had more visas for China over the years than I can count, and never encountered such a problem. No one at the university can tell me what's going on. Also, is it true that some pilot system places are not even bothering to process applications, just in case policy changes? I just cannot accept that this long wait is normal. |
