What do posters think? Should we apply the Six Rules to posting on Dave's?

Dear Sasha,

Applying is one matter; enforcement is another. For that reason, I think that the word "apply" in your post falls into this category: "Meaningless words" Very Happy

Dear Johnslat

All depends on what 'meaning' means. Not as straightforward as one might think.

Anyway, how about "Sasha's Criterion applies - even to you!" ?

Dear Johnslat

Not sure if you do. Do you? Depends on the kind of drink that has been taken, but I know yours wouldn't be the hard stuff. I know I can barely see the clavier in front of me, never mind the key for the comma.

Or, we could just be dancing the 'style-guide' tango again. Hic.

Hic!

Whether George Orwell would like it or not, many of the words he deplored at the time have well and truly entered the English language. I think however that his general outlook is still valid.
