Dear VS,

He's probably absolutely sane - which, in Saudi, would definitely make him weirdly abnormal. Very Happy

John

That's very interesting....immediately makes me wonder where I'd fall on the scale. I'd guess probably a bit on the 'wrong' side, whichever one that is!! Shocked

Dear VS,

"Did you pass? "

If he/she is there, he/she must have failed. For, as we all know, you HAVE TO be crazy to go there. Very Happy

John

So the psych tests are to keep the sane ones out?! Because we all know, if the sane ones are let in, they might try to introduce the locals to some 'haram' things, such as order, discipline, and work ethic!

When I went into the JET program in Japan (1991), I had to submit an official statement in my application package written by a psychologist. I was interviewed and given a stress test along with other mental health questionnaires. I passed. Razz

Perhaps the staff at the instructors school wants an evaluation in order to stack the deck in order to try and get rid of him/her??? Why else do it AFTER the person is here? Just a crazy guess on my part. Confused

Perhaps the person did something that suggested to his employers that there might be a problem?

It would be interesting to compare pre and post KSA.

I think some people lack the ability to censor themselves in different situations...hence this type of test may be of value to weed out those folks that are unable to adjust to different cultural norms.

The poor sod DID have a problem. He sought psychiatric help, was taken off teaching and left KSA a few months later "exit only". No benefits despite having been in KSA for some years.
