Hello everyone. I've got the DVD set for the Gracie Combatives Blue Belt course and I'm looking for a partner. There's plenty of good BJJ in HK but it's sport-oriented. I want to train in street self-defence accredited by Gracie Academy. Please PM me for details and thanks for your interest.

You could have a go with 'triquest' in TST next to Isquare. Not sure how sports orientated it is - I do Krav Maga there but a few folk do both and are pretty happy with it.

Thanks everyone for your help and interest. My job situation is fine and I live with my family (no flatmates). As for Triquest, they could be excellent for all I know but for various reasons I want to train in a program directly affiliated with the Gracies. If you know anyone who might be interested in the course please PM.

Brazilian Jiujutsu for street defense? You want to defend yourself by fighting someone on the ground?

-I'd rather not fight and especially not on the ground but if the fight went to the ground I'd want to know what to do as effectively as possible. Meanwhile, one of my cousins was assaulted by a thief who punched him and ran away. My cousin, a rugby player, ran after him and tackled him, slugged him a few times, called the cops on his cell AND STAYED ON TOP OF HIM UNTIL THE COPS ARRIVED. I was also teaching once when a jerk came and attacked his girlfriend. I used a rear naked choke and side mount against him, both Gracie U. blue belt techniques.
