Any Canadians out there with an MA TESOL teaching in the USA? I would be interested to hear more about the employment process and potential employment markets (any opportunities in south-eastern USA)? Was your degree done on-campus or via distance education? I am scheduled to start an on-campus MA program in Sept 2014.
I am currently working in Japan. I am really torn between doing a distance MA or on-campus MA. I am worried that doing the online degree will close too many doors for me (Middle East, specifically). But I may also want to seek employment in North America later, so I am posting here. I'm not getting any younger either.
Thanks for the feedback.

This really depends on which ME country you're talking about. Saudi and Kuwait are out, but the UAE's Ministry of Higher Education accepts them assuming they are accredited and have a good rep. Also, you can get a job in Canada with a distance degree. I have a distance Masters and have just resigned from a government funded job here to take one in the UAE
Just sayin'...

Ditto what Smedini said. Plus, you'll be in a better position to compete for those UAE jobs once you have a minimum of three years' university-level teaching experience post-MA.
(Congrats on your new position, Smedini.) |
