Well, guys, it looks like the world's probably not going to end today At least not in my time zone!
So, I'll wish everyone a happy Longest Night, and all the best in 2013. |

Dear spiral78,
" . . . all the best in 2013."
Um, that may not work out so well:
"In "Temple at the Center of Time: Newton's Bible Codex Deciphered and the Year 2012," by David Flynn, a book that has skyrocketed up the best-seller charts following its release this month, the author makes a correction to Isaac Newton's research, pointing to the year 2013 as "the time of the end."
Regards,
John |

Dear John:
Oh, well. If tonight is to be my last Solstice, at least I'm enjoying it thoroughly!!
Further, I admit I'm not quite ready to concede that David Flynn, whoever he is, is correct
Best,

Dear Sasha,
"Of course the world won't end anytime soon. Communism hasn't been achieved yet, hic!"
Best argument I've heard yet for the universe's being infinite and eternal.

of course it didn't.........the mayans didn't account for leap years.
guesstimating they created their calendar about 5000 years ago, then
they missed about 1250 leap years......so their prediction of a zombie
apocalypse is off by about 3-1/2 years!
accordingly, the world should have ended sometime in june of 2009.
note however that that would be applicable only to the northern
hemisphere. the coriolis effect will have the world end in the southern
hemisphere in june of 2016.
i'm astounded that the mayans didn't catch that mistake. leap year
was invented by the romans 2000 years ago. they obviously had
some form of trade, seeing as they spoke a common language.
where else would they have learned to speak latin american if not
from the romans? |

Dear Johnslat
We Marxists have always had the best arguments. They are also infinite and eternal, hic!
