I was recently listening to some of the tracks from his soundtracks (On Golden Pond and The Firm). Talented guy.

Erm, yes, I know. But don't know a huge amount about Steely Dan. Apart from, that is, the origin of their name...

Reminiscing about Brubeck and my discovering the wonderful world of Jazz, I remembered this man who had a huge part to play in telling the world about American Music

"Take Five" was actually written by Paul Desmond (who plays the alto sax solo) and was first recorded by the full Brubeck Quartet. However, Brubeck continues to get most of the credit for it. Wink

Try counting it as 3 + 2:
1 2 3 1 2 1 2 3 1 2 1 2 3 1 2 ...

Yes, I know that, Henry, thanks. That's why I wrote 'hit', not composition. In the same way we'd write about a pop star's hits, even though he may not have written them - such as Elvis, who wrote not a line himself.

Thanks for the counting tip, though. I'll try it. Yet, somehow I keep counting out 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2 Very Happy

Sasha, "three" is the next number after "two." I know you can get there!

You can phone me and we can count the meter together. Cool

But Henry, there's not much call for counting number three in march time. Unless you have a Zimmer frame, perhaps...
