Was reading in the news about a singer called Kim In-soon, and about the fact that she was a black Korean woman. On stage she is better known as Insoonee. Was very surprised, because I thought it would be pretty nigh impossible for a Korean of mixed blood to amount to anything. She was supported by a solo mother while growing up, and so on an so on.
She trecieved a scholarship when she was highschool age from a foundation for mixed-race Koreans, and went on from there with her talent to bigger and better things.
The article mentioned others with her same background who were excelling in music. Anyone know who these people might be? I know there is one popular Korean actor who sports a real fuzy afro, and always has a long toothed comb in his hair. He's a real comic, and he's gotta be of mixed race. |

Why would a Korean of mixed race be singing in Japan?
I have talked to many of my adult students about intercultural marriages, and most of the comments from those with children were about their fear of their grandchildren and children being discriminated aginst. Promotion in the workforce would be difficult they said as would be socialising in school.
I have also suspected that the media has pushed this mindset to preserve racial purity. If there is such an article about mixed blood Koreans being succsesful then happy days, because we are seeing a complete turnaround in Korean thinking |

Every time I see a mixed - race couple with their children on the subway or wherever, its very sweet and interesting to see the charming mixed features of the child. i always wonder what sort of life the child has in store in such a homogenous society as Korea. |

The actress that Little Mixed Girl is talking about is probably Lee Yoo Jin.

"She said that although she never lied to her friends about being half-American, it hurt when kids called her a "half-breed" behind her back."
Kids can be so cruel. I'm think that mixed women are so damn hot that this sort of thing makes me cringe.
For the record, I'm a big fan of LYJ and Isak (from Isak'n'Jeon).
And let me take this chance to tell you that Jaymee Ong is one of the hottest women in the world. Period. :)

I wonder if the "mixed" Korean actually came out and said they were mixed or if they covered it up.

Lee Yoo Jin looked too obvious--nobody in the Korean entertainment industry knew about it? Hell, I told my wife she looked Portuguese months before she came out in her press conference... |

Yeah, my sister and I picked her out as definitely different from your average Korean celebrity.
We thought she looked mixed, but with so many people in the country, it's kinda hard to tell, and although misguided in hindsight, her Korean was impeccable and that threw us off a long way.
Definitely one of the best looking women in Korean entertainment in my books, but that's for another thread to explore. :)
