Hello!

I think I may be in a bit of a problem here. I'm looking at my alien registration card and it appears to have expired on Sept. 11th, along with my E-2 visa. I'm also on a F-2-1 visa and this alien registration card started Feb of 2002, and was just renewed instead of being replaced. I was at immigration in February renewing it, but they just renewed it for 6 months rather than one year since that was when my alien card expired. I'm still teaching at my Uni and have been continuously since then. I forgot about that and now that I've remembered I'm not sure what to do about it. I guess the best bet is to go to Immigration and fess up and see what happens. Does anyone know what to expect? Will this be a fine or what? Any clues how much?

Thanks for any help!

Okay, a co- worker of mine was in a similar situation last year. Don't panic, but make sure that your director knows whats up. I believe there is a two week grace period before they start charging fines, but the fines are 50,000W per day. Maybe your school will pay half?

Sidetracking a bit, but did immigration not send a letter to you saying that your visa was close to expiring?
I know that I got a letter from them maybe 3 weeks before mine was due up...
