Are they on Dave's? I didn't hear about it. Driving can potentially be worse during Chuseok because at least buses can use the bus lanes! More time on the road than hiking, that's for sure!

Hey guys. Sorry for the sad lack of updates, I'm on vacation in Taiwan for the week. The trip is still a go. It looks like maybe 4-5 of us. I checked train tickets and it's all pretty solidly booked up for that weekend. There are however some standing room tix.

So the plan: Let's meet in Jeonju Saturday around noonish. You can book tickets back for whenever you feel like it. I'll by buying my tickets as soon as I get back next Saturday. You should do the same! I'll let you know my time for sure later. If plans change, you can get a refund for your tickets (minus a small fee I think).

Check the first post in the thread. Jeonju. Various day hikes in and around there. That's all the plans I've made! Come September, I'll do a better job, I promise! Or we can all just meet and hope for the best. That sometimes works well too.

wow, with extensive planning skills like that, you could probably do the AT in your sleep, backwards, with one leki tied behind your back, 5 or 6 times
Cool

Sept 22 (Wed) to the 26 (Sat) are the dates.

Crash Bang...do not worry. I have planned probably 10 or 15 multi-day backpacking/horsepacking trips for groups of friends/campers/family. So it will be somewhat organized. I'm just not a micro-planner because that seems to take away a lot of the fun (at least for me).

Were you one of those thru-hikers who had your mileage all graphed out and maildrops ready even before you set a foot outside the door? If yes, maybe you can plan this trip because you'll probably be pretty frustrated at me most of the time.

So I just bought my train tickets...has anyone else done the same?

Cheonan-Jeonju. Sept. 22. 9:30-11:48 (only standing room left).

Jeonju-Cheonan. Sept. 26. 1:30-2:55 (again standing room). the 12:30 was completely sold out.

I've done a bit more research and it looks like we can camp for at least a couple of the nights and then stay in a cheap minbak or something for the others ones. Perfect combo or forest fun and cleanliness I think!

Hey, so how many are coming? I'm looking into making a shelter reservation at Deogyusan. I've recruited 2 of my friends from here in Cheonan so that makes:
