i honestly can't believe the BS that floats around here sometimes. rude korean athletes? giving the crowd the middle finger? not talking to fans?

If that is the worst offense of korean players then by god that's a great streak. an american player is lucky if he doesn't get caught doing coke.

as for koreans not being accessible, Annika Sorenstam is neither an american, nor is very media friendly, HOWEVER, not a word about her at all. the hypocrisy here is astounding sometimes.

The korean/asian golfers are not there to socialize. They are there to golf at the highest level. That is what the fans truly pay for: the entertainment of high-quality golf. I've heard se ri park's english and it's pretty bad. I don't like hearing koreans who can't speak english speaking english. I'm sure they feel just as uncomfortable trying to speak. Further, this is a competition. Perhaps they feel that hanging out and socializing with their competitors will take some of their edge away.

I know that in tennis, the Williams sisters have been criticized for not "mingling" with the other tennis players on the tour. But at least it wasn't turned into a racial thing.

When are white people going to stop this singling-out of non-whites and propagating these bullshit stereotypes whenever they feel that they cannot compete with them??!!? It's happened before in the context of Japan and international trade a decade ago. It's happening now to some extent with China.

I'M TIRED OF ANGRY WHITE PEOPLE!!!!!

JAN STEPHENSON (FUCKING WHITE CUNT!!!) SHOULD SHUT THE *beep* UP!!!

Lawrence, buddy, read more carefully.

I was not being an "apologist" (do you even know what that word means?), I was commenting on your OP about somthing that is a non-issue.
I only named Bonds as an example, there are many, many others.
The Williams sisters in Tennis have been brought up in this very thread. Good example.
You were just looking for one more reason to vent your spleen at Korea. The simple fact you went on to rant about other koreans in pro-sports and the ludicours examples you used proved it.
You need help my friend...

So, now this has turn into "Koreans have ruined baseball?" My goodness Lawrence you're so obvious. Do you have a grudge against Koreans? Did a Korean beat the crap out of you? Talk about xenophobia.

While you're at it, you should enlighten us on how the coke snorting, wife beating, hostess raping, drunk driving, illegal gambling, and homicidal KOreans have ruined NFL, MLB, NBA, NCAA, CFL, and NHL in North America, too. Why not here? Maybe blame the America's rampant school shootings on Koreans too?

You know what mod? I think you should put a sticky on this thread as a perfect example of unconstructive Korean bashing by Lawrence.

Didn't the America's WASP used to be critical of the first Italian, Jewish, Irish, and Slavic immigrants to the U.S. in the early 1900s? How they were going to ruin the neighborhood, town, city, state, and coutnry?

Didn't HItler used similar excuses prior to WWII to spew his racial hatred and paranoia to the German population; being extremely critical and singling out one race?

Have we gone insane?
If people want to play the sport, and that is all, that's fine by me.
What's the problem?
Who cares?
Sounds to me like lazy people have lost money and they're whining.
Personally, I would rather just shoot my game and go and not donate or shmooz.
Is this against the law?
Christ. Leave them alone and make a real business, not some easy money sham.

I dont consider something a sport unless there's a chance of a life-threatening injury occuring.

But I do admit that, under my criteria, golf and curling count as sports if you include busting your head open on the coffee table because you fell asleep watching them.

Homer;
I know apologism when I see it, and I know how to spell ludicrous. If
I didn't, I would have enough sense to learn how to utilize spell check.
Perhaps after you (and bugs) finish that first year in Korea at the old hogwan, your views may more closely resemble mine. When I first
came here, most Koreans had never seen a cell phone. I first visited this
country shortly after cell phones were invented. Spare me the BS. And
it would take both of you, and half the uniformed Koreans standing aimlessly in front of the US embassy, to "kick my ass."
Professional sports is a business, just like your stinky hogwan. The United States has global, franchise, nameplate sports entities, such as
the NBA, NFL, NASCAR, MLB, yes WWF, and the LPGA. To succeed, to
thrive and remain viable ,requires the patronage and support of fans, sponsors, vendors, and viewers. Like Hyundai and Hanbo Steel, these
operations are not permanent. Image is everything. People alot smarter than you understand this, and plan the future around this. So these
sports are more than just showing up and putting the little ball in the hole.
I am sorry if this is a bit complex for you. I tried to simplify.
Yes, I am a little rough on the locals. I do not suffer fools easily. I
wish I could develop your knack for that. Actually, I think
Koreans and Korea get off light. Their myriad screwups, phoniness, and
deceit deserve exposure. I will leave the excuses for you and others.

Lawrence,

Sorry to burst your little bubble mate but I have been here since 1997, am married to a Korean woman and have a kid on the way (just found out).

As for the spelling, i whip off these posts in a hurry sometimes...didn't bother to check my spelling...it does not take away from the argument however.

Now to adress your anger issues. Who said anything about "kicking your ass"? Not me. I was merely pointing out, a fact that you purposely ignore, that most on here were not defending KOREA but were responded to your OP concerning ASIAN golfers on the LPGA.
The fact is you use selective information and tilted analytical variables to justify yet another of your virtiolic rants on Korea and Koreans.
Now your insulting tone not withstanding, your points about being a promoter to the game are valid. However, it is also true that MANY pro-athletes could not give a rats hairy butt about the fans or being chummy to the media. This phenomenon is not exclusive to asian female golfers or to Korean athletes. Yet, you choose to ignore this and focus on a few asian athletes to justify your "Koreans are (insert non-clever yet demeaningm insult here)" position.

Your "take" on Korea is so biased it loses all credibility and just makes you sound close minded and judgemental to others. It also shows complete disregard for others opinions and for the possibility that you may at times be wrong and others be right.

You are not "rough on the locals", you treat them like lesser people, in your posts anyways. Let us hope that you do not transfer this bigoted behavior into real life.

You call people who try to show a balanced outlook apologist and yet by saying that you show quite clearly that you do not know the meaning of the word and that you use it, much like the asian golfer example, to further peddle your tired and demeaning brew of hate and bigotry.

A nice walk in the park, ruined.

A way for rich people to misuse large amounts of land.

What are you implying here? You're scattered all over the place. Can you be more coherent in your attempt to make a point? Are you implying Koreans have "ruined" cell phones? Rolling Eyes

Why don't you take a deep breath and collect your thought for a change?

Look around you! You're surrounded by Koreans. They are coming in, around, over, and through you! You see them in the morning, noon, afternoon, at night, and in your dream. Wow, you must be terrified! I pity you. Now, empathize with you. Those bastard Koreans; they've so phony and evil. They have ruined the world. What can we do to save the world of its evils? Have any solution, Lawrence? I'll listen, really.

As one who has often disagreed w/your posts and muttered unkind things about the locals, I'll tell ya nonetheless that that was a great (and calm-how do people do that?) rebuttal. Congrats on the coming kid....
