I live outside of all the large cities in Korea and was wondering if there was a web site to find out about live music gigs in Korea, especially non Korean bands. I would love to go to a concert while in Korea, but I always find out about them too late. Any info would be great

You might have trouble finding out about live music in Korea because there is so little of it going on!!!!!

It's something everyone living here notices after awhile.....they have never been to a real, honest-to-goodness rock n roll gig since they arrived in Korea.

There are a couple of places in Seoul that try to keep a live scene going but it's pretty inconsistent. Black Cat in Itaewon and Evans in Hongdae.

Mainstream western artists don't do Seoul on their world tours because frankly, Koreans aren't interested.

Or, frankly (and most likely) the artists donít want to go for one gig (Seoul), or in the case of some - they do not like how they are treated here.

Thereís little money to be made for foreign artists in Korea, and in the case of some, like the Japanese artists (i. e. Chage & Aska) they came and played to like a 90% touring Japanese crowd who paid for a Korean vacation and the show. Juxtapose this to Japan where the biggest of American artists can go and play one show for a lot of dough, or kill a few birds with one stone and play several shows around the three central islands.

In Korea, most of the touring western acts play on Army bases and are has-beens like Twisted Sister or Coolio.

Form yer own band!

Cheers,

Joe
