CFL's Saskatchewan Roughriders will play in the Grey Cup next weekend against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. If the significance of this passes you by, consider that the Riders are the very epitome of sports futility. Think hapless. Think hopeless. Think helpless. Think Chicago Cubs.

The Riders have 2 championships in 7-odd decades of operation...in a league that has had less than ten teams for most of its history. It's been 10 years since they've even been in a Cup game. And on and on it goes....

Keerist, I wish were home...the whole province will be going nuts....

Ten years ago there were some good reasons to think the league was in deep doo-doo. It's turned around nicely except for Ottawa, which lost its franchise, re-gained it, and lost it again.

For my father's sake, I'd love to see a repeat of '89.

Gopher it!

Yeah, Kevin Glenn being out: I hope the Riders don't take that as a reason to get cocky...a time-honoured Rider "shoot yourself in the foot" stunt.

Green is the colour! The bars in Saskatoon, Regina and every hicktown(any other kind in Saskatchewan? Wink )in between will be rockin' this weekend. I wanna go home, ma!

I usually don't give a rat's ass about much that goes on here, but because the 'Riders are in the Grey Cup, I plan on keeping this thread at the top of the list until the Grey Cup is over.
I'll start off with a trivia question.

Which former Rider was nicknamed The Little General?

Ron Lancaster.

Another bit of Saskatchewan football trivia:

Who was the only Saskatchewanian (and Canadian) to win rookie of the year in the NFL?

Not a Rider question, but hey...
