Is there a difference between how potential employers will view an MA in Applied Linguistics and an MA in AppLing TESOL? |

Zed,
At USQ the courses you take for them are the same.
I'm guessing the "Applied Linguistics" will be more marketable for teaching in a university.
Your diploma can read either:
1. M.A. Education in Teaching a Second Language
2. M.A. Applied Linguistics
Both are done through the faculty of education. |

I just read through this whole sticky, but couldn't find one mention of a MA in TEFL.
I'm looking at a MATEFL program offered by Simmons College. Would it be that different from a MA TESOL?
I've also heard that there may be some negative response towards the fact that the degree is from a "college" and not a "university."
Any ideas? |

Ok. I'm a bit confused here. Is the general consensus that an M.Ed. is better than an MA in TESOL/Applied Ling.? I am very interested in both these programs and can't decide which to do. |
