Some of my friends and I use

Quicksilverscreen.com

It is a streaming website and you can get things like the Daily show and movies on it.

I just found www.surfthechannel.com

Amazing choice of movies/tv shows/cartoons/documentaries/sports.

Also, if you are a PC user, download GRABOID (www.graboid.com)

You won't regret it.

I used Quicksilver screen, and Surfthe channel, but surf the channel didn't really do it for me.

Now I use a streaming site called ninjavideo (www.ninjavideo.net).

It has a pretty large number of TV shows (mostly US, but some BBC shows as well) and a pretty good amount of movies. The best part is they're all amazing quality. Like TV good. They post stuff pretty quickly. I watched every episode of Lost this season about an hour after it aired in the US.
If you can get past the annoying admins on the site you'll enjoy it.

You do need to install a program that writes to the registry, but it passes every virus check I've run on it, and does nothing more than change how the data is streamed.

Give it a shot and enjoy.

C & I are just about out of here, and have had a rollercoaster of a time w/ ABC's channel 'services'/programming (part of a KT package).

So, we just went with this combo:

Shareaza - P2P program that handles torrents, as well Smile

http://shareaza.sourceforge.net/

We use a SecurityFilter to keep out all the trash from fake files, etc:

http://www.shareazasecurity.be/

You can use a website like Episodeguides to find the names of shows for series:

http://www.episodeguides.com/

And last, besides the fine torrent sites mentioned above, we are big supporters of ShareTheFiles.com; excellent site for getting the right file, the first time. Their Forum Search will usually provide you with the dl links you need; using the Torrent Search function will take you to Snarf-It, another pretty dependable site.

http://sharethefiles.com/forum/index.php

http://www.snarf-it.org/

We would select movies or TV series, and set them up to DL overnight or while at work. Then, watch it on our TV, or computer, or take it with us somewhere. If you really like something (like for us, old episodes of the Muppet Show), burn it to CD, DVD, or your HD. Having a memory stick means you can take your TV shows, etc. with you to work, as well - great for those with split-type shifts.

It is also not really difficult to hook up a computer to a 'main' TV, either.

Hope this helps someone!

G & C

I remember last time I went there were channels pretty much devoted to StarCraft. Anyone know if those are still around? Awesome game...

I'm trying ninjavideo.net and it's taking forever to buffer. I've watched like 30 seconds of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" in 10 minutes.

How much should I expect to pay a month in cable/internet?

I am most likely going to be in Busan.

I would like to have some type of deal where I can get some channels in English...especially ESPN and ABC (I'm a huge sports fan). Is that even possible?

What can I expect to spend?

*Sorry if this has already been addressed. I didn't get to look through this thread from start to finish. I gotta run.

Nothing better than my SlingCatcher (via Slingbox in Washington State) hooked up to my 42" LCD HDTV. Streams at 800-1200kbs so it looks like standard def.

Yeah Slingbox is definitely the way to go. Just hook it up to your internet connection in your home country and you can watch your native cable or satellite. If your internet at home isn't fast enough and you have the dough, just google Slingbox hosting. There are lots of hosting services around the world. They usually require you to pay the local cable/satellite bill plus a monthly fee.

I couldn't agree more about Slingbox. I got a friend to hook it up on his bedroom tv that he rarely uses. I have a few other options, but this friend has the full DirecTV lineup..easy choice. Smile I have been here for 4 months and it works beautifully. I would definitely recommend getting the DVR option on your set. With the time difference between here and CA, the DVR is the only way I would be able to watch all of my favorite shows. Surprised

If you're outside of the US and sick of not being able to see good TV online or just tired of waiting for Hulu to get your favorite shows, you'll want to check out TVGorge and its huge archive of shows.

TVGorge breaks through international barriers by bringing fresh American TV content to viewers outside of the United States and other approved viewing areas. Want to see the season premier of LOST without waiting several months for it to be released in your viewing area? You can watch LOST as well as 125+ other popular television shows like Dexter, Dollhouse, Entourage, and Archer.

I use http://www.greatstufftv.com/ to watch shows shortly after the air. It's the best way for watching new episodes as good (real) links always appear a few hours after the episode is aired.

Also, you can watch http://www.hulu.com/ but it's pretty slow with HotSpotShield and it doesn't let you buffer properly for some reason (it buffers a maximum of ten seconds because they don't want anyone ripping).
