i saw one at technomart for 280,000...card phone w/ english menu nice condition. but i personally think camera phones are frivilous. they take shite pics and i'd rather have a small digitical camera as a more worthy investement. but i like the idea of mp3 players in a phone. those new sony ericcsons look kickass |

I completely forgot you were wanting a phone to take pictures too. Well, in that case you aren't likely to find a used card phone that's able to take pictures for 10,000 won. However, if you just need a phone and don't mind a used one they can be had for this price.
Techno-mart is a good choice. Two floors of mobile phone retailer's. Shop them around and play them against one another to get the best deal. But if you find a deal that is too good to be true then jump on it before it's gone.
I have my phone set up with LG. I don't have a fancy service plan but I get a reasonable number of minutes for out going calls without extra charge. Lot's of text messages included and a few frills like color ring and internet access (but it's in Korean). It runs me about 20,000 to 30,000 a month depending on how much I call. And I don't have to bother with getting to a phone shop to buy a damn card every month.
Whatever suits your needs the best.

That's what I thought when I first came to Korea.

ideally i would like a picture phone so i can email pictures back home
as long as it can do that and make/receive calls i will be happy.
what sort of deal should i be looking at?? and how much should i be expecting to pay??? |
I have a Cyon make from LG. It takes pictures (not the best) and it's about 300,000 won.
I can take a picture anywhere in Korea...ANYWHERE...and send them to my folks back home.
But my girlfriend can demand I prove to her where I am...which is another story... |

One of the most useful posts, and especially relevant to me.
As some of you are aware, I've just arrived, and although I'm jetting off to Japan for a week, I'd like a crappy phone to take around with me while I'm out of the house when I get back. At least it can sort out a lot of communication issues.
These card phones look like the business. I can get my hands on old handsets no worries.
I LOVE THIS BOARD.
