i spent two years in seoul and have been back in the states now for 3 months. strangely, i've been reading this board every day now.

i used the cafe quite frequently my first 5 months in seoul because i wanted to learn as much about korea as i could, meet people, etc, and then i stopped using it. i got bored with it, learned the system and developed a group of friends and associates. i felt like i didn't need the cafe anymore.

now, being back in the states i find myself missing korea and wondering about what's going on there. i guess that's why i peruse this board now. anyone else experience that? i find it strange that i'm using the cafe more now and i'm not even in korea.

I was only back for a month and a half, but I felt opposite. I lost interest in the board entirely. But then I arranged to come back and spent the week prior looking again. My interest totally kicked back in.

I could see myself wondering what was going on with the board if I ever spent a long time away from Korea and it though. Maybe you should come back for a little vacation or something.

This board's gone back and forth and such, and I guess I check this because I am curious about what goes on in Seoul and the like. ON the other hand, this board has gotten so PC and a bit left leaning in its slant (anti-Bush people galore, anything critical about a people other than Koreans are deleted despite ample evidence to support a point, etc).

Then why did you start this thread less than one month ago?

"What the bloody hell is going on around here?! I left my apartment today and was walking through a crowded market when this ajoshi accidentally spit on me. He just hocked a loogey and turned around and spit it on my jacket. He was mortified and tried to wipe it off, but I couldn't believe it. I had to use ever bit of strength not to punch him. Then I almost got run over by a motorcycle. This place sucks!"

I am not getting something. He has been back 3 months (since October) and started the thread today, Jan 14. So what? Where is the contradiction?

It's a longshot, but that could have happened to him outside of Korea...

Yes, there are ajoshis back in his hometown and he hates it there and wants to come back to Korea where the ajoshis don't spit on him.

Unlike you kangnam mafioso, i quickly found that when I leave Korea, my interest in this forum, and its significance to my new life dissapear. i was only in Taiwan 3 weeks, but in that time, this forum suddenly became pretty irrelevant to me, and I'd already hooked up with "forumosa". Mostly because it contained stuff useful for someone trying to make their way in taiwan, as i was.
If I knew personally some of the characters on here, it'd be a different story I guess...
Theres also the fact that when I'm in virtually any other country, I spend far less time online. Too much interesting things to be doing...
