Where can I find an English Speaking Dermatologist in Seoul? (Not skin clinics or spas. A real doctor.) Phone numbers, addresses or websites would be super helpful. Thanks!

I would recommend Dr. Jang, Kyoung-Ae. She also goes by the name "Jen". She is an excellent dermatologist, very professional. She was at the top of her class, and she attended the best dermatology program in Korea. Her English is quite good, and she is straightforward and will give you honest advice. She is familiar with western culture and has worked with a good number of foreigners. She is very professional.

She owns and works at the Leader's Clinic--there are several branches around Seoul, but she usually works at Miasamgeori--go to Miasamgeori station, go out exit one, walk to the Kookmin Bank building and the clinic is on the 6th floor.

Website is www.beautyleader.co.kr but I haven't checked to see if any of it is in English. Phone number is 1588-7833. She doesn't usually work on Fridays, but during the week she takes appointments at her clinic until around 8 pm.

I would recommend her without reservation. She's the best dermatologist I've ever been to, Korean or otherwise.

For those in southeast Seoul (Songpa/Seungnam area):

Go to Garak Shi-jang on the subway/by taxi and get out at GS Mart. The cross street has a lot of (subway) construction...the cross street to THAT street behind GS Mart. On the corner is a building with a Paris Baguette shop on the ground floor. The door is in the middle of the building to the right of Paris Baguette...take the elevator up to the 4th floor. Step out...the dermotologist's office is directly in front of you. He speaks great English and seems more than competent. The pharmacist on the first floor also speaks decent English. Both tell you what the medication is for and how to use it in understandable ways.

Why do you say he is terrible? I've used him and he's been fine.

I'll second clay4bc. I found him to be extremely inattentive - he didn't really listen. Spent more time talking about himself. I think the place is more geared to the cosmetic side of things.
Thanks to above posters for the leads.

That might be true - I only go/went there for cosmetic stuff. I dont have any serious or embarassing skin conditions.

I still recommend Dr.Lee at Woo Skin. Some say he works too quickly getting people in and out, but his English is very good, his diagnoses always reasonable and he will sit and answer questions until you are satisfied. I still go here after 6 or 7 years and have no desire to change clinics.

An appointment is needed, and you can leave a message to request an appointment at 02) 756-5118. Leave your name and phone number and Dr.Lee will call you back himself to arrange an appt.

i'm not sure if its because i went to the eunpyong location
i had the worst experience.
i've been developing some zits here and there because of the weather and the humidity. first the doctor suggested an extraction procedure. which costed me 100 000 won and hurt a lot. i was swollen and red for 4 days.

the second i went in i was hoping to get a cream. we argued for good 10 mins he suggests i get the extraction and it ell him that its too painful and i'll be fine with a cream.

worst two experiences ever. i am still in search for a derm

I go to the Leaders dermatologist clinic now up at Mia samgeori. The head dermatologist Jang Kyung ah knows English and her underlings. They don't try to put me on expensive treatments. They just listen, diagnose, prescribe something (if necessary) and I'm on my merry way.
