I've found the threads on here about how to renew my passport, but I haven't seen anything on how long it takes. I'd like to take a trip to Borneo at the end of August, but I don't want to book it unless I'm pretty confident the Canadian Embassy can get me a new passport in time.
So, for those of you who have renewed your passport here recently, how long did it take after you submitted all your paperwork?

Thanks

i did mine in march. the lady told me about 15 business days but it was done sooner than that...that is assuming that all your paperwork is completed correctly.

while slightly on topic. What are standards for a guarantor. I mean can I use a Korean lawyer or doctor if I am applying in Korea?

# Processing time: 3 weeks from the date of submission of duly completed applications

why wouldn't you check out the embassy web page first?

Because I know there's usually a difference between what the government claims and reality.

Yes, about 2 weeks.

They do return your old passport.

The guarantor needs to be a professional(lawyer, doctor, priest, etc.) and you need to have known them for 2 years. However, for about 70,000 you can complete a 'lieu of guarantor' form at the embassy.

I finally received my passport today, so I thought I'd post an update on how long it actually took, for any other Canadians needing to renew.
When I submitted my application, they told me at the Embassy that it should be ready in 3 weeks, so I returned in 3 weeks and it was ready. However, they made a mistake (I think someone in Canada made the mistake) and so they had to have Canada issue another new passport. They said they would rush it and that there was probably a 90% chance I'd get it in 1 or 2 weeks. In the end, it took 3 weeks less a day, meaning the total time was 6 weeks less a day since I submitted my complete application.
So my advice would be to submit your application about 2 months in advance if you want to be on the safe side.

I heard that Koreans can get their passport in 3 or 4 business days, and if you pay extra money, you can get expedited same-day service Shocked

My sister had to wait 2 months to get her Canadian passport Rolling Eyes

Gotta give their bureaucracy credit where it's deserved. Amazing speed and prices. Gotta love bali bali - but only in these situations.
