Hey Guys.

So i want to play Aion. And I want to use Direct2Drive to buy it.
However...there lies a dilemma. When I go to checkout, it says Error: Aion is Country restricted on your IP.

I'm in Korea -.-

Anyone had experience with this?

it's because they want you to buy the korean version of the game. If you wanted to buy the game online, you should've gone with steam or have a friend to send you a actual copy of the game. Other ways including your friend buying you a cd-key from the states and sending it to you, and you can d/l the game files online.

It's the US version. Have a friend GIFT you it on Steam. Alternately, use a proxy to make the purchase, drop the proxy to DL

Yeah all korean games generally have a korean version and they're ip restricted, and occasionally computer region restriction. They check your IP first then check the region on your PC you need to switch it to Korea.

you can get some info on korean games and their websites in my www link.

Not entirely true... from what I've heard. I've heard stories where people were banned for certain amounts of time because they were playing in Korea on the US servers. I'm not sure why or how long, but it's what I've heard. Hopefully it's not the same with Aion. My friend who's coming to Korea this weekend picked me up a copy, so I'm crossing my fingers!

Meh, well I tried it out on a Private Server first.

Honestly I'm not too impressed with the game.

I think I'm gonna brave it out and wait until FFXIV...that game is going to ruin my life I swear -.-'

I'm guessing you are/were a fan of FFXI? I tried that game and it didn't appeal to me that much. I played Aion through it's beta in China (translated in the US) and thought it was pretty good. Hopefully my laptop can handle the graphics (just got the Collector's Edition from the states).

Or you could buy the game through a proxy on D2D, then go back to your regular proxy to download it.

I did this with NWN2 while I was in Japan Fall '06

Even if you buy the game here it is very likely all login will be IP checked. So unless you're going to play it through a proxy you might want to get into the Korean version.

If you go to ncsoft's global site and try to sign up, it'll fail and tell you to go to the korean site.

Yuh I was, theres only been 3 MMO's which I've been hooked on;
Ragnarok Online
FFXI
WoW

The amount of shitty MMO's being pumped out these days is insane Evil or Very Mad
