I'm flying into Osaka today (March 1st) to do the visa run tomorrow and Wednesday; if anyone else is going and wants some company send me a message. |

|
|
Hello,
I hope to be in Seoul for Feb. 2011.
What is the aprox cost of a Visa run from Seoul to Osaka? How long should it take? If more than one day is there a cheap hostal or hotel nearby the Visa office?
If someone can give me full details on this I would truly appreciate it.
Thanks ahead of time. |

i read on a blog about a new regulation, a 'background check done by Korean Education' that you need if you plan on doing a visa run to japan, but haven't found anything about it on any websites. does anyone know about this? this is the blog i found it on http://mrsvandebilt.wordpress.com/2010/05/26/e-2-visa-run-to-japan/ |

Bump...
I am headed over to Osaka soon. Has anyone recently had to get this background check?
Also, any info on nearby hotels, costs, and anything else that is relevant would be appreciated.
Thanks,
K |

The information available is outdated. I would appreciated some recent information.
What is the aprox cost of a Visa run from Seoul to Osaka? Is there a cheap clean hotel nearby the office?
Are there any interesting places nearby that can be visited in the afternoon?
If someone can give me full details on this I would truly appreciate it.
Thanks ahead of time.

im writing this from the computer in the Osaka consulate after a nightmare visa run. So if you're thinking about Osaka, pay close attention.
So all the guides online i read said Osaka takes 2 days (which we all accept means a little over 24 hours, basically next day service. They also somnetimes say there are 2 times you can come in, during the morning or afternoon windows.
But that is all wrong. I came in at 12 midday and found it closed at 11.30, so i had to come the next day. They also told me the service time has changed from 2 to 3 days. So that meant instead of going home on saturday, i'd need to miss 2 more days and go home Tuesday. Good job i didnt book another flight, because they then told me by 3 days they mean 3 days after you give it to them.
So to sum up:
Osaka E2 visa processing time: 4 days
e.g. arrive Monday before 11.30, receive it back Thursday after 1.30pm.
when compared to Fukuoka, which is a next day service, the message is clear. Avoid this office like the plague. The staff are awful and unhelpful and who knows, by the time you read this, it might be a week, or even a month processing time. The website is all in korean and Japanese, so don't risk it. |

Does anyone have an update on the Osaka visa? My recruiter said something very similar to the post above, it takes several days for the visa to come.
Hong Kong is a faster option I have heard. |

I don't know about HK (your other query) but most Korean consulates in Asia are on 4 (working) day turnaround.
Certainly Osaka and Tokyo are. I don't know about Fukuoka.
Manila and Bangkok are.
Residence is required to do it in mainland China.
