You guys on CnM broadband do know that their download and upload are not equal right? When I had CnM 100 megabit, I believe the upload was capped at something ridiculous like 1 megabit. It's crap.
The best broadband I ever had was LG Xspeed, which was 100 up and down, consistently. |

SK has been crawling on anything outside of Korea. A tracert showed that the bottleneck is an IP with Hanaro telecom. For whatever reason, SK routes my internet thru them after it bounces around between other Korean IP's. It then goes out to the USA. A call to SK and they blamed Japan tsunami problems. Did a SK cable get cut? I actually get faster service to the USA using my SK Galaxy S 3g phone! SK doesnt have an explanation for that, however.
I think certain users are squelched while others get priority.
I am talking 32k dialup speeds. |

Woo hoo... I'm up to a full 64k on Friday night using Speakeasy Speed Test to Seattle. Terrible.
Last Result:
Download Speed: 564 kbps (70.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 2774 kbps (346.8 KB/sec transfer rate) |

Hanaro is SK. it's SK's old name.
SK doesn't have any cables of their own. it's all shared. There are basically only a few ways out of Korea.

You can see a zoomed out view here. Looking for a better one. basically most stuff has to go through Japan, or maybe out through Guam or China.. that's about it.
With Japan being damaged, it really limits the traffic options. |

Hey, cross. Thanks for the good info.
Oddly, I was getting lower overall speeds even yet through my phone just a bit ago, but was able to Skype better to my family in the US. Must be something about ping. My ping was like 400+ on hardline once it left that hanaro connection. Pretty horrid. Wonder if this will be fixed in a matter of weeks/months/years? |

I haven't noticed much difference in Internet speed in my home..over the past two years..
It's just always been crappy..I just got used to it.
BUT recently my IPhone connection has become really crappy especially when i am at home.
It seems to work fine when I am outside but when I am at home i'm getting the 'cannot find internet connection" a lot..
Is this a recent trend..
Seems like some others are having similar probs recently..
So frustrating when using apps like PING CHAT or Kakou talk and the message comes back- cannot send.
The 3G logo is coming and going..
Terrible really!!! |

Yeah, I'm with CM now at 100mbps. They promised dl speeds of 60-80 with ul speeds up to 3.
I've speednet tested and pulled down 86mbps and uped 3-5mbps. Got it with cable with a bunch of channels for 25,000/m.
I made a post about 6 months ago about watching youtube. When I first got here, I could stream down 1080HD content, with 11.4mbps. Then, for some reason months after I could barley watch 360 content. For the last month, I've streamed 720 with no problems, but as of lately, it's lagging again where I have to stream at 240.
Wat da heo? |

I changed to LGU from KT to get a package deal to save some money
KT was super fast.
LGU seems fine, but then I started downloading torrents and it was snail slow!
so I called up LG and said" HEY!! WTF! the guy said you have two routers the one I gave you and your old one.. you are currently switched to my router
go into internet connections and switch back to your router see what happens
I switched to my router.. AND BINGO! lightening speeds! |

My upload has suddenly died on SK tonight. Speedtest.net is just stuck on "connecting" for an upload test..and when I ran it again, it got 0.02 Mbps. |

Last night was so awful it was pretty much useless to surf.... turned on my VPN, and that improved it enough to surf around and do some torrenting (but still not as fast as it should be).
This SK problem is getting annoying. |

because a VPN cannot overcome the problems of damaged underseas cables. In country was fine last night. I was getting 50down/10up to the seoul speedtest server.
I could barely connect to anything overseas at all. |
