Is there a real difference, besides the price and name? |

There is definitely a difference. The garlic spice mix makes it more than just spicy soup. I'm still not sure which one taste best though... I think I still prefer original Shin ramyeon, but I'll have to try to black one a few more times before I make up my mind. |

The noodles themselves don't really taste any different, so if you're not the kinda person to slurp down on the soup as well you probably won't think there's any difference. But the Shin Ramen black soup certainly tastes much better. |

Wow! I had Black for lunch...and YES that is definitely the truth: "Once you go Black, you'll never go back!" Absolutely edible (and tasty too). |

Yeah definitely the best packaged ramyun i've had so far. The extra garlic/doenjang seasoning is good, and i noticed they had real slices of garlic in the veggie packet. Huge difference, and none of that gut rotting chemically spicy crap that happens with the regular Shin Ramyun. |

what are the differences between the two exactly besides black being more expensive?
i had some today and the only differences that i could tell was that it had an extra package of "stuff" (no idea what it was) and that there were more chewy bits. it tasted similar though. |

For me it was the lack of diarrhea. |

I'm a newb and was wondering which is going to be the best (and most importantly) LEAST spicy ramen I can get my hands on, at least while I'm slowly acquiring real people food/dishes.
I'm a firm ichiban fan here at home so I haven't checked out many korean brands. |

I thought they stopped making Shin Ramen Black? Not that I really care; I don't really like ramen in general, and Shin Ramen tastes pretty mediocre to me even by ramen standards. I never understood why it's so popular. |

I think its better but not better enough to justify the price. |

Any of you ever bothered to check the saturated fat content in most brands of ramen? You might as well be eating donuts. |

I voted for the regular, my reason being the black is just a tease.
You get a tiny piece of meat and other chunks of stuff, just enough to make you start craving a real meal and then you're hungry.
Shin ramyeon does what it says on the box. It's a snack, nothing more nothing less.
Black is just a jumped up snack trying to be a bowl of yukkgaejang.
Edited. |

Ill go for regular. The 'luxury' brand is just paying more for essentially the same stuff. If I want to make it gourmet, I will add extra seasoning, spices, vegetables and such on my own terms. |
