Tiger, the KB branch in Itaewon does speak English, and they will issue you that card!
For any other branch, be sure to try the upstairs/back offices first, and explain you want the DEBIT CARD. The Korean for it is 'gook-min jik-bool ka-duh' (you can sorta read it on the picture above).
Taking a copy of the pic would seal the deal, though . . .

I'll take another try at it tomorrow (if I get up in time).. I made a copy of the online picture (thanks LEMON) and will try again before I go.. actually I have to.. its either that or wire money home to withdraw down there.. |

This thread hasn't been updated in a while.
Can anyone confirm if the KEB (Korean Exchange Bank) card ATM card can be used in the State? It does have the little "Plus" sign on the back, leading me to believe it may be possible.

Go to your bank and make sure the "international" access ability has been activated and don't depend on it until you have actually tried it.
They are all capable but it is not always activated.

Thanks. I activated it with no problem.
The sucky thing is that the ATM fees are at something like 1% of the amount transfered. The person at KEB said it's cheaper to transfer money more than $1000. But if you transfer less than $1000, it's cheaper to use the ATM. Go figure. |
