Has anybody shipped large items back to America? We have a large suitcase that we would like to send but the post office will not send it. I was wondering if there is a preferred shipping company that you use that is not too expensive?? |

Shipping will cost you more than the replacement cost of the suitcases AND contents.
Put your stuff into smaller boxes (#5 going to the states), mail it and sell the suitcases.

Is there a maximum size that the post office will accept? We also wanted to send a large box (toy box) via surface mail from Korea to the US. The Korean Post website says you can send up to 20kg, but doesn't specify sizes. |

Hi, we actually had to go through this company to ship our over sized stuff: http://www.moveskorea.com/eng01.php The post office only ships box 5 which isn't even their biggest box and can hold about 20 kg. Shipping via boat requires that you spend about $1000. Our box was about 40 kg and cost $320 so shipping overseas requires A LOT of stuff. The company we went through charges $8 per kilogram and is actually going to rewrap our box for security. I would definitely recommend them. They are shipping our box today and it should arrive in 10 days. |

Any update on this? $320 was your final price? Any problems? Did you do the door-to-door? 10 days? Seems hard to believe that price. |

I'm also curious to know if everything was delivered as it was supposed to be. Please update! |

So I went through the post office, and was able to do box 6, and it wound up costing about 10,000 KRW/kilogram. Arrived safely in 4-5 days.
They do offer boat, which is muuuuuch cheaper, but takes 2 months. (I presume it takes less time, but they say two months just in case). Since I'm not sure where I'll be in 2 months, I stuck with getting it there quick. |
