|
|
Was just wondering how everyone internet speeds fared on SK versus KT. I'm paying for the 100Mbs connection in Seoul but, checking the speedtest page for the Seoul server, only getting about 25Mbs download speed.
Of course, I know you don't get the full 100Mbs when downloaded, and I was connected through my wireless router, so can't expect too much...but just wondering how other people get on.
I'm pretty sure I can usually get up to about 5MB/s when downloading torrents, which is plenty fast for me, but if KT was much faster I'd be interested in making the change. |

The general concensus seems to be that KT is faster when accessing websites in North America while both are fast enough inside of Korea (Maybe SK is faster in Korea, I don't know)
EDIT: As a note, I get 50-60 Mbit/s to the Seoul speedtest with KT living in Daejeon. I assume I have a 100 Mbit/s line, but I don't really know.

Are you going through a router?
A router can limit your bandwidth. If you are through a router, run the speedtest again with the ethernet cable from your modem going directly into your computer. |

Aye, going through a router just now...I'll give it a try straight from the modem! Thanks. |

I know I'm resurrecting a bit of an old post, but I am currently living in Daejeon as well and looking to switch my internet. My building is wired with CMB and it's RIDICULOUSLY slow. Is KT pretty good? I'm mostly curious about the average speeds you experience for downloads, surfing, and online gaming during PEAK hours (7pm-midnight) with KT. I wanted to go with SK broadband, but I was told they don't offer it to my building... |
