I have a feeling this question is asked all the time, but I can't use the search feature so I'm sorry.

My contract ends October 1st.
My work visa (in passport) expires October 9th.
My ARC expires October 26th.

I want to travel to japan and the Philippines for a few weeks after I finish and then come back to Seoul for a few days. I want to leave Seoul for good around the 23rd or 24th. Will I have any problems entering korea again (from the phillipines) or exiting (to the states) if I do it before the 26th?

which date is more important? visa expiration date or arc?
will I need to get a tourist visa?

thank you.

Hand in your ARC as you leave (save you complications later).

You will then return to Korea on a 90-day "entry on arrival" tourist stamp.

There will be no problem returning to/transiting Korea provided you have onward passage out of Korea (your ticket home) dated within 90 days of your arrival.

Exiting Korea won't be a problem.

Can I ask what problems might happen later?

Do I need to do anything special to get the "entry on arrival" (such as apply for it)?

Thanks

Trying to enter on your ARC after the termination of your employment can cause problems if your employer has applied for a new foreign teacher. It becomes an illegal entry and you have violated immigration law by not informing immigration of the change in your status under your status of sojourn. (why risk it?)

Entering on a "entry on arrival stamp" requires nothing other than:
a) passage out of Korea (your ticket out dated within 90 days of your arrival) and
b) a US (or other qualified country) passport.
