You think I would joke about this?
There are many types of human behavior; good, bad, evil. The law is an ass. |

In other words: you got nothing. Come on. You say you're not joking. Come out with a reasoned, well expressed defense of your position that the perpetrator of this particular crime be subjected to rape on a daily basis while he is incarcerated. State who you believe society should commission as the agent(s) for dispensing that so-called justice. State what their compensation will be.
I, on the other hand, prefer the system we have now. You've heard of it at least at one point during your life, I hope, haven't you? It's called the Rule of Law. But your last sentence dismissed the law. Okay, fine. Defend your thesis. I've asked the questions and you've jost postured in response. How about an answer to each of those questions? |

I think there are times when the rule of law has failed. And in those times, I understand the public's anger, and can also sympathize with those that might take some sort of action.
I'm all for trying to stick to the rules... but if they let the community down, sometimes the community needs to take action.
Am I saying it is ALWAYS right? Nope. But neither is the rule of law. |

Wow. Another vote for anarchy, huh?
It's pretty simple, isn't it? Vigilantism is wrong. It's always wrong. It's never right. It's wrong inside a prison. It's wrong outside of the prison.
And there's still no articulated response to the questions I've posed in this thread. |

That is true so long as the courts aren't a complete joke. What if it's a kangaroo court that lets off some brutal dictator? Or the judge and jury are bought and paid for? Or the police can be bought for a tub of bacon grease?
I also am somewhat supportive of "caught in the act" vigilante violence where a particularly heinous act is witnessed by members of the community and justice is immediately dealt (say, the lynching of one of the Breslan school massacre terrorists that happened- seriously, how can you tell the parents of 300 dead kids that it was wrong for them to lynch one of the terrorists?). Although in a stable society, really the police and courts should be brought in. |

According to CentralCali's own personal opinion (which is being presented as universal fact).
It's a complicate matter, but for me vigilantism is can be totally just under the right circumstances (i.e. as long as no innocent bystanders are dragged into it). Leaving all punishment solely up to the state is a barbaric notion. |

Throwing the perp in an expensive cage for 30 years while the father never tastes revenge doesn't seem civilized to me. |

Care to show exactly where I said "turn the other cheek" regarding this matter? That should be interesting as I never did. Misrepresenting someone's posting is dishonest. |

The girl's parents, family, friends. You read the report? The perp no longer can be classed as human. |

So you still have nothing other than "I no longer consider him to be human." That's really quite convenient for you isn't it? Of course it says a lot about the quality of your own humanity (note that I said qualtiy, not existance), but let's leave that aside for a moment. I've asked questions and have gotten no actual answers to them. What I've gotten from you is posturing, what I've gotten from Steelrails is an inane comment referring to this case. What I have not gotten is a well-formed argument supporting your thesis.
Come on. You said you're not joking. That means you should be able to seriously support your stance. |

It's one thing to fantasize about beating down scum Batman style (I know I do), it's another to have a society that supports vigilantism. It's only a matter of time a vigilante kills someone and his version of morality doesn't match everybody else's. |
