I'm planning to go to Sokcho to do some hiking in Seoraksan NP this Friday. Last time I went I stayed at the House Hostel, but they're booked full so I'm wondering what area of the city has the most cheap hotels. I'm just looking for a private room with a bed, so I don't need anything fancy. Ideally no more than 40,000won.

I figure Sokcho will be quite busy this weekend because I think the leaves have started changing colour, so I don't want to spend hours wandering around looking for a place to sleep. I'm guessing most of the cheap hotels are up by the main bus terminal at the north end of town, but are there any other areas with a lot of hotels? What about near the bus terminal at the south end of town?

Thanks

When I search on Agoda I saw a couple of highly rated cheap motels, but they were up near the Seoraksan park entrance, and I want to stay in town. If you are mainly interested in Seoraksan, try booking one of the highly rated places on Agoda. You can see the maps on the website and see the ones that are up near the park entrance.
I want to stay in town, so I will just have to search around the bus station (intercity bus station) motels myself.
I wont be going for a week. If you can post info that you found after going, I appreciate it too.

Why not go down 7 or 8 posts...? There's the exact same topic. Or do a search. This has been covered literally dozens of times.

Probably would've been nicer to just mention that, but leave out the attitude.

I don't check the travel forum that often so I didn't realize there was another thread. And I gave up using the search function on here long ago because every time I did one I got the blank screen. Sorry for wasting your time.

Drew345, thanks for the advice. I took a look on Agoda, but it looks like the only places they still have available for this weekend are more than I want to pay. So I'll probably end up just wandering around the bus stations also.
