Actually, newer models have shoddy circuit board and/or chips.

This irritates me too. As a scooter rider I get very nervous when a car is right behind me with no lights on. I don't want to switch lanes in case they decide to overtake at the same time and I don't see them doing it

OP, this being the Internet, you "could of" written "Turn on you're lights when your driving!"
