Does anyone know how long it takes for the American embassy in Seoul to process a tourist visa for a Korean? When I called the embassy they said one should allow at least three months for the visa process. I was hoping for something a little more specific. If anyone has any experience with this let me know.

I realize Korea is part of the visa-waiver program, but this trip will be for longer than the 90 day limit allowed under the visa-waiver program.

Thanks ttompatz. That makes much more sense than dealing with the tourist visa. Going to Costa Rica for a week was part of the plan, but I was originally under the impression that the 90 days does not reset unless the person returns to his home country. I guess I was misinformed.

That might not work.
I know a couple of people were told by the immigration officer at the point of entry that on ESTA one can stay 90 days in the USA out of 180 days.
In other words; if you stay for a month, leave and re-enter again it shouldn�t be a problem. But once you use all 90 days at once and leave than you won�t be able to go back for 3 months.

Jumping in here to avoid clutter.... anyone know how long the visa will take for a Brit? I usually use the ESTA thing but can't this time as want to enter the country by boat.

It is pretty urgent so months = not worth the effort/cash. Thanks.
