|
|
I just bought a new PC. Put my whole collection of "Have I got News For You" (+ other files) on my new Portable HD and then subsequently SHFT-Deleted them all. (Don't ask me why; 't was a STUPID mistake)
I believe when deleting stuff in Windows (running Win 7 Ultimate) it simply removes the index points (or something like that) so the system thinks they're gone.
Since I didn't do anything after deleting them isn't there a way to simple undeleting them?
Any help greatly appreciated. |

You're talking about system restore. You can try that, but it might not work for what you want. If you don't know how to get Windows 7 to undelete or it just doesn't have that option, take a quick trip to www.download.com and do a search for UNDELETE. Pick any of the free or free-to-try programs. Run that program. Make a back-up copy of the files after you've undeleted.
AFAIK, none of the undelete programs guarantees 100% recovery. |

Thanks for your quick reply. I was actually hoping Win7 or some program had a feature which could simply undelete.
I'm now searching the web for options. |

Shift-delete. Skips the recycle bin. Those of us perpetually low on hd space use it exclusively. |

Well after a bit of surfing the webs I downloaded Recuva and I got most of the deleted files back (190 GB out of 210). It took some 3 hours.
Yeah, I used to have little HD space (250GB) so I always SHFT-del everything but Win 7 operates a bit differently (selecting folders in explorer).
Anyways crisis over. |
