Dunno what's going on exactly, but these days I can stream up a 720p video without a hitch. Sure beats the yesteryear of stuttering 320s.

Anyone else feel the speed?

Repaired infrastructure via the transpac route (the one that was killed in the Japan quake).

I wonder if Gangnam Style's popularity has anything to do with it...

I don't think it's that as youtube has been slow for years, unless you meant the Kobe quake^^

Is everyone else's internet slow as well?

Strange internect connectivity problem since last night.

Might seem like yesterday but in reality it was years (just about 2); quake was on March 11, 2011.

It was a long if you are talking about the repair time.

ttompatz, I had slow youtube back when I was in Korea, which was pre-2010. There was definitely something up with it.

Ditto here. Youtube streamed without a hitch back in 2004/5, but of course nothing was in 720p resolution. I specifically remember having trouble streaming videos I used in class starting sometime shortly after that, well before the quake.

Youtube is pretty much where I would expect it to be, by now. It took a while, but other than at very peak times, it runs quite well. I've even noticed that 720p will buffer better than lower resolutions, in some cases. Not sure why, but try it.

Long before the quake, there were complaints that Youtube was being restricted by the local telecoms due to the strain on the infrastructure. I very much believe this was true, at the time. The infrastructure has caught-up now, and things are allowed to run more smoothly. Also, I believe Youtube has a higher number of Asian servers for material, no?
