I'm in month 7 of my current contract. I need to start the paperwork to apply for jobs next year. I know I can get fingerprints done here in Korea and then send everything to the States. My question is where do I go? I live in Dongducheon. Will the local police station suffice or do I need to make a trip to Seoul?
I'm going to have all my paperwork sent to my mom who will send it to to Washington to get the criminal record check apostilled. I'm just a little worried about having other people doing it since I had such a hard time last year. |

| You most likely don't need to do all that if you get a release letter and transfer your visa. The new document thing is for people with a significant gap between contracts or for those who cancel their visa and hand in their ARC. |

He is right. You need a Letter or Release (LOR) to go to the immigration office and get the D-10 visa (looking for work). If you find a job before hand, I believe they just extend the visa and change the employer/sponsor.
For the States, you can just print out the FBI fingerprint form, go to the police station, and have them do it (for free I hear). As long as they are done properly, hell you could if you knew how to. |

Well if things go well for you a D-10 or a transfer will be good. Yet, getting paperwork for just in case, is a good idea.
For fingerprints and where to get done. Thing more -gu and less -dong. Smaller -dong police stations will likely be a no or head shakes. You will want to go a larger district police station.
Some people say if push comes to shove you can do it yourself.
Remember to get 2 or 3 fingerprints done. All it takes is smudged prints to ruin your month. |

| I am trying to stay at my current school for another year. It just depends if the school gets funds for next year. If they don't, I want to have all documents ready. I'll look into the D-10 visa but I'll get my fingerprints done at Yangju Police Station and go ahead and pay for the CRC. I don't want to be screwed if my current job can't be extended. |

If you have the apostilled FBI-CBC and degree copy on file at immigration then you do NOT need a new set for an extension of your visa to stay with your current employer, transfer to a new position or change to a D10.
If you are one of the last who did not get them done yet then ASAP is the order of the day.
