For me, getting a good job where you can make foreign friends from the very start should be the top priorities. You can get good hagwon jobs if you do a bit of research and if you are in a hagwon with other foreign teachers then you should be set for the year. I think public school jobs are generally a bit better and although you'll most likely be the only foreigner at your school there will be plenty of other newcomers starting at the same time as you.
The things to be wary of are small towns (or even villages) where making friends would be difficult. Also bad hagwons. |
