I'd have to see how other liked it first before I went venturing that route...
I imagine you'd get shot if you were seen with one of the locals on a date though.

I'd give it a whirl. I wonder how many North Koreans would venture south and try to find work? I would imagine they would be treated with less respect and be seen as "dirty" to South Koreans.

Great options, there. I really think you've covered every possible answer to this question in your poll. Laughing

I don't think I would move there because I am too based in Seoul. Friends, hobbies, etc. However, I would probably travel, possibly volunteer or teach short term if I had the option.

Of course reunification isn't likely to happen anytime soon anyway, and if it did who knows what it would be like, so I guess it's pretty much a moot point.

I thought a long time about this question and I would have to go with "yes" because of this:

I might teach up there if all the hysterical xenophobes who are trained from birth to hate foreigners were exterminated first. Also, they would need to get some decent craft beers.

If they were reunified I think it would be interesting to go. You'd only be a train ride away from Seoul at that time anyway.

I think another option to the question should be:
"I'd like to give it a try now, even as a separate country."

I (and most others) would answer no to that option, but there are people who do it (see above reply). I read a book by someone who worked a year as a propaganda translator up there, and said it was certainly a mistake.

If it were all one country, sure, I'd like to give it a try. I'd go up for a ski trip anyway.
