What are the steps/ramifications to breaking one uni contract to go work at another uni? I'm wondering about all sides of the situation: for the institution that would be losing the faculty member, the institution getting the faculty member and for the actual faculty member. Is it a total hassle? Would the current uni be unlikely to release mid-contract? Would a visa run be required?
Thanks

It really all depends what's in your contract, doesn't it? I know someone at my uni who is planning to leave halfway through a contract, and he asked administration, and they said as long as he gave notice before the hiring for the following semester started, it wouldn't be a problem. But he's heading back home. And that's just our uni.

Read your contract.
