You know all of my life I've desperately wanted to be taken seriously. The problem is I don't lack self-awareness, I recognize my good point and bad points. I'm self-critical.

Why won't anybody take me seriously? What's wrong with you people?

Sorry, I don't mean to be confrontational, it's just frustrating. Laughing

I'll tell you some news that you will like to hear. Since you posted that here on Dave's people will now start taking you seriously. It took me awhile to figure out the psychology of this forum but I got it down pat now.
A good piece of advice for you and others in the same boat is to go through and read every single post of every single thread that has been posted here on Dave's. Perhaps get a partner or some friends like yourself (believe me there are plenty) and compare notes and discuss everything that has ever been brought up here.
You'll never be the same afterwards.

Wear a tie, preferably a red one. Make sure your shoes are shined and that your socks are at least as dark as your trousers. And by all means sport a pocket square!

NOW people will take you seriously!

IMHO last impression of you was:
appearance of Osama bin Ladin,
opinions of a fundamentalist muslim,
and a sociopath who burnt every bridge on your way out.

That, I'm afraid, is a cartoon character these days.

There are plenty in this world who wants to be taken seriously. They are called 'angry old man'. If you don't want to be one of them, then I suggest you to move to the next stage of human life and seek 'karma'.

Go up to the toughest looking person in the joint / office / bar and short elbow them on the jaw. People will soon take you seriously.

OR become a vicar and carry a bible at all times, that may work, except for some naughty teenage pranksters that might happy slap you.

Or cut your finger off because Japan won't apologize enough, that usually works, as does pulling down your pants or pulling a live pig into two halves.

Good luck with whichever route you may choose in life.

That's pretty much the impression I got. If the OP wants to know why he's not taken seriously, perhaps he should review his posting history on this site, especially the beginning. That really is very telling for him.

Before every sentence you speak, just say "seriously folks...." and people will get the message.
