Crocodile tears. Totally fake and obviously so. This is a man who regularly orders drone attacks on civilians, including children. And we're supposed to believe he's now "saddened" by the deaths of those people at the school? Politicians like him are absolutely ruthless and care nothing about regular people. To them this tragedy is just an opportunity to further their own agendas. One of the things on Obama's agenda is to "ban assault rifles" (i.e. set a precedent for incrementally taking down the 2nd Amendment altogether). Anyone who buys into his little performance is being duped.
As for my own reaction to the news: the first thing was to feel it was a senseless tragedy. The second thing what an absolute shame it was that somebody else wasn't armed except for the killer. He got to go in there and massacre so many helpless, disarmed people. Somebody should have been there to shoot back at him. It's a damn shame really. |

The tears were so fake, it's sick.
Tear ducts are near the nose, and he was standing. He whisked one away from the upper corner of his eye.
Of course, the media ate it up. |

This is horrible beyond words.
The killer was a 20 year old make with 2 guns and a bullet proof vest....this gun thing needs to get controlled. |
Fact:
In the past 3 major shootings, the media has immediately reported a "bullet-proof vest" was worn, and in every single case, they later recanted after it was learned it was merely a vest for holding ammo and such, regularly used by hunters.
I have no doubts this will be the same. |

You shall not murder.
Well we can't impose morals (we can't be so judgmental) so lets take that saying along with the 9 others and totally eradicate them from our schools. Let's all do what's right in our own eyes.
Well America....this is the result. |

I watched the clip 3 times (it was well worded) and about 3/4 in I saw tears at the corner of his left eye (right eye as you're looking at it). It's his job to come out and make a speech, not an effort to be re-elected, so let's hold off politicizing this. The children's bodies are barely cold. |

Goodbye, little ones. Goodbye, nurturers and protectors. We imagine for you a future that cannot be. We grieve the brevity of your lives; we weep with your families and friends. Goodbye.
For those who couldn't leave it alone, please at least acknowledge that
gun violence is a complex issue with no simple solution. http://boingboing.net/2012/12/14/what-science-says-about-gun-co.html

We get to get more than guns under control. . . as I stated in a previous thread, the real problem is untreated mental illness.
We need to stop being so ashamed and embarrassed of mental illness. Mental illness is treatable, but stigma causes too many people to not seek help for themselves or their ill family members and friends. Stigma can even make a person's problems worse and drive him/her over the edge. The vast majority of those with mental illness are not criminals, but if you treat them like criminals for a long enough time, they'll start to view themselves as criminals, and then become criminals.
Even if a person with mental illness can get over the stigma and seek help, mental health care is expensive. How does a person with little or no money get help? Affordable, accessible mental health treatment could help a low-income person hold down a job better and become a more productive member of society. Without access to care, these people most likely become burdens on society as either welfare recipients or as criminals/jail residents.
Some people will never want help, no matter what anyone says or does. But decreasing stigma and increasing access to care can help minimize the number of undiagnosed cases and decrease the incidence of these tragedies.
So pay attention to those around you and how they're feeling. Ignoring the problem never helps. Let those you care about know that it's okay to seek help, that there's nothing wrong with them for seeking help. But if these people start to make threats or turn violent, don't enable them; notify the authorities immediately.
Also, stop using mental illness names as adjectives, as if the illness is the person's identity. For example, don't say, "Bob is a schizo," instead say, "Bob has schizophrenia." There's more to people than their illnesses, believe it or not. |

NO, not at all, the president needs to look strong, and compassionate at the same time. why does he have to cry like a girl? no one else is crying but the people who personally knew them!
are you crying? anderson copper isn't crying! the police of Newtown are not crying. no one is crying. |

you need to stop watching HOMELAND!
the american military is at war, the president has a job to do, if he doesn't want that job mitt romney will happily have women and children killed in drone attacks!
don't blame Obama for American politics! he is just the guy at the top, he can't stop it. if you knew anything about how the world really works you would know. |

I just posted this last night.....and then I wake up to today's horrific news.
http://news.yahoo.com/knife-wielding-man-injures-22-children-china-064458804.html
BEIJING (Reuters) - A knife-wielding man slashed 22 children and an adult at an elementary school in central China on Friday, state media reported, the latest in a series of attacks on schoolchildren in the country.
The man attacked the children at the gate of a school in Chenpeng village in Henan province, the Xinhua news agency reported.
Police arrested a 36-year-old man, identified as villager Min Yingjun, Xinhua said. It did not give further details of the extent of the injuries.
There have been a series of attacks on schools and schoolchildren around China in recent years, some by people who have lost their jobs or felt left out of the country's economic boom.
The rash of violence has prompted public calls for more measures to protect the young in a country where many couples only have one child.
In 2010, a man slashed 28 children, two teachers and a security guard in a kindergarten in eastern China. |

Nice to see someone else saw this story. 22 kids injured and thankfully not killed.

Dude, you need to relax. Life is too short to hate that much. Obama has tons of faults, but I sincerely doubt he was faking tears. |
