Wow, an F2/F4 visa holder with a Bachelor's and the hagwon is offering 1,000,000 won a month???

Broken down:

22 working days a month * 4.5 hours a day = 99 hours

1,000,000 / 99 = just over 10,000 won an hour.

Just shocking, I hope they go bankrupt.

Other red flags:

1. No mention of insurance / pension / housing
2. No visa sponsorship
3. No mention of vacation time
4. No mention of any other perk.

As for "I want a warm-hearted and friendly teacher who loves kids" yep, because a boss that loves his employee so much that he's only willing to pay them barely above a 편의점 rate is really going to attract someone warm-hearted (read idiot).

Nah it's a dud. $14US per teaching hour or just over 9 US bucks per hour you're required to be in the workplace = diarrhea whatever visa you're on.
In this case not worth the risk of working illegally and getting busted.
My missus - non native speaker (albeit with a degree in English linguistics) made 3 times that working under the table in Korea.
Pay peanuts = get monkeys. Maybe they'll get someone from Pakistan or Kazakhstan who speaks English as a 4th language.
The boss is doing a massive disservice to his students. As someone else said - hope his "penny wise, pound foolish" attitude bankrupts him.

You realize that there are dozens of Filipino teachers who will submit their resumes for this position, and other positions like it.

Why pay Chad from Saskatchewan 2.5 million a month to come in with a hangover every morning when qualified Flor from Manila is happy to take the job for a 1 million a month. And not complain - or come in to work hungover.

It's an odd offer. That's for sure.

Like someone else said, it may be aimed at what the Koreans consider second class foreigners (e.g. Filipinos, or Indians) who speak the language fluently but don't fit the image most schools want. For a housewife who has free time in the afternoons, it might be a half decent part time job, particularly if she isn't fluent in Korea (and hence is ineligible for most other part time jobs).

If you go to an agency to find part time teaching jobs (at hogwons or otherwise) the going rate is at least 40k/hour. Generally, you won't be required to desk warm either. Most places will ask you to come in half an hour before the first class, and you can leave as soon as you've finished whatever paperwork is necessary after the last class. If there is too much of a gap between classes, you can ask to be compensated for that time. Most places don't want to do that, so they'll either schedule classes to be back-to-back or find two different part-time teachers.
