I'm a hagwon teacher just starting my new contract (less than 3 weeks in) at my new branch and I'm not gonna go into the myriad problems but it's a shitty branch. Anyway, I want out and my old branch would love to have me back (I've already been talking to them about going back next term).

My contract allows a 65-day notice of termination of contract and I can request a Letter of Release to get re-employed at my old branch. However, I'm worried about a couple things.

1) What are the odds they give me this signed letter? Can they be spiteful and deny it? Is it really necessary?

2) Can my E2 visa be transferred easily or do I have to redo all my documents (FBI CBC, apostille, etc.) or even go home?

3) Is their a requirement for the amount of time I have to be at the branch before I can obtain the LOR from them?

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Smile

And yes, I've read a lot of the stickies and researched this some, but it's a clusterf*** of info and hard to get consistent answers.

Thanks!

Too early, you are best to either put in 6 months and then try to transfer back, or bring it up now and get them to agree it won't work. You basically will walk and they keep what they might owe you. After that exchange, you'll be back hopefully with minor costs.

Because it is under 6 months.. you definetly need a LOR. Ask nicely and maybe you'll get it..

Thanks for the advice!

I actually had another incident the other day and I got fed up and talked to the branch manager personally about everything.

Luckily, she suggested switching branches before I could so it looks like they're going to be okay with giving me the LOR. I'm getting the f*** out of here after this term. Smile
