Is there any way to ship a small dog back to the US from Korea? Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks!

ship a dog home or take a dog home... 2 very different kettles of fish.

Taking a dog home is not so hard but does entail some legwork.

Shipping a dog home (unaccompanied) I don't know anymore but used to be a stressful nightmare for your pet.

Where will the dog go to?
You must pay extra if you don`t fly to the US with your pet.
It is better for the dog to fly when it isn`t summer.

Also some dogs shouldn`t fly.

Heres an informative link if you're planning to fly with your dog:
http://www.animalrescuekorea.org/articles/air-travel-with-a-pet

If your situation is different, that site seems active & up-to-date in advising pet owners & gives other pertinent links.

Lots of animals travel by plane. Best luck.

You can take your dog with you (in the plane beside you, not in cargo).

I will be going to LA with my spouse. Because most places do not accept pets, we were going to leave our maltese with her mother and have her shipped over separately after we find a dog-friendly apartment.

It would be preferable to fly with our dog but that isn't really an option. Thanks for the replies thus far, if anyone else knows of anything let me know please!

If you are in Seoul, I highly recommend these vets:

Speak to Sohee Yoon as she is in charge of the pet travel department.

She took care of shipping my dog back to the UK (I returned earlier, dog travelled alone).

Wonderful service.

For "shipping" you should contact the airline directly.
They will have pertinent information as well as "THEIR" rules (which vary widely from one airline to the next) for shipping your pet home. US carriers are probably the worst.

Chungwa has a great track record for this. If you want it done cheaper then, if the dog is small enough, take it in cabin with you.

If not then I'd go with Chungwa.
