I'm sure this question has been answered already, but I wanted to see if anyone can help me out here. With the new law in Korea, F4 Visa holders are required by MOE to submit their CBC. I was told that any record, even though it's been expunged, will show up on the CBC. Is this true? I got charged with a misdemeanor for battery 10 years ago (in California) and got it expunged few years back. I'm sure this will be stated on my CBC and was wondering about my chances to continue teaching in Korea. Has any F4s been in this situation? If so, please let me know what happened and what I can do in advance to plan for the worst. Thank you!

First, until you see the paper in hand, you really will not know.

My other advice from a previous thread is

Quote:
2. Explain what the charge on your record is. Not to me, to the officials. Here is the thing to consider, Korean officials are likely best in speaking and understanding KOREAN. So get the CRC translated. Provide lots of details and get a nice letter written explaining the situation. Better would have a third party explain, in nice legalese. Once again get it translated and verified. If an official just sees a simple quote on the paper, they will likely make a snap decision of NO. You can guide them to a better choice in your favor, you just have to provide and walk them through the choice.

This is not a sure way, but it might help. Plus with the battery makes it sound severe.

If you do have the record is still on record and your name is mud with MOE you can still work at other jobs. You just can not teach at hagwons or anyplace under the purview of MOE.

Good Luck.

PS Thanks for asking a clear concise question, rather then whining.

What he said ^^^.

Order a copy of your CBC.
Until you do everything else is just conjecture.

AFTER you do:
If it is clean then you are good to go.
If it is not then you won't be a teacher. On an F4, at least you can find other work.
