I've got a laptop here that crashed a while back and I'd like to get rid of it. When it crashed, however, it totally crashed and so I didn't have a chance to delete data, pictures, etc. Any suggestions on how to safely dispose of it? Thanks!

i) open the case.
ii) pop out the HDD.

iii) put the carcass on the curb (it will disappear).

iv-a) put the HDD into a hard case (20k at yongsan)
iv-b) remove your data and

v-a) reuse the HDD
v-b) destroy the HDD.
