I woke to find my cat dead a couple mornings ago. Natural causes -- she was 11 years old & overweight. She got sick for a couple days then just packed it in, quick & with minimal suffering. An elegant death, actually.
But now I have her body to dispose of. She's in a cardboard "coffin" in a cold room (outdoor temp). I'm not sentimental about remains, even my own when the time comes. Advise me.
She was a dear animal. RIP Juni. |

Sorry to hear about Juni.
Just to let you know, if you drop off the cat at the vets, they discard it as medical waste.
I was told that technically it's illegal to cremate pets here; but a small tip at the crematorium will get the job done. I did it for my dog. |

How is it illegal when they have pet crematories one of which I've been to before when my wife's dog died. (Don't give grapes to a dog!)
Anyway, yeah just throw the cat out with the trash if are able to do that and be done with it. Or, throw it in a rice paddy.
Im sorry for your loss. |

It was probably the dead frog in the grapes, not the grapes themselves. Good thing you didn't eat them yourself!
OP, whatever you do, get rid of it. If you wait to bury it, you'll have a dead cat hanging around for a few months. It's unsanitary, even in the cold weather.
My cat died and my father put it in the dumpster at his office. I worked at a job where we had a dead opossum in the warehouse and when the animal control people came, they put it in a bag and then tossed it in our dumpster as they left.
So, if you're not sentimental, then just pitch it. Better to do it now than to have a dead cat on your mind for the next few months. |

One of my friends has a vineyard and a dog he used to have died from kidney failure after it ate grapes. Dodge7's dog probably also died because of kidney failure. |

Aww, you're missing a long-forgotten joke here. There's a point behind the frog bit.
schwa, you seem to be taking it in stride. I'm sure you can work out what's best for Schjunikooms. |

For some reason I feel obligated to tell this story:
My friend in America had a cat that died. The family was sad and they decided they wanted to bury it in some of their farm land which they call "the land".
The problem was "the land" was another state away and took about 3 hours to get there. So they stuck the cat in one of their freezers and wrapped him up in 4 garbage bags.
To this day they have still not taken that frozen cat out to bury him. At first they must have been too busy/lazy to have wanted to bring the frozen dead cat with them when they would go to the land. Afterwards, I'm sure at this point it's mostly fear of having to pull out those bags and the frozen cat that stops them from taking him out now and burying him.
This happened more than 3 years ago. That cat has been in that freezer for this long.
OP, get rid of the cat ASAP |

Sorry about your cat. I buried a few pet birds in the Korea. I think had my dog died I would have taken him to the vet and paid him to dispose of them however they do it. |

The landfill?
11 years and that's all you gave your cat? What are you, starving? Poor? |

Starving and poor, he would have eaten the cat already, don't you think? |

At the very least he could have made some cat soup. |
