i wouldn't support any movie that racist Foxx is in. He said "how great is that?!" when he got to kill all the white people in the movie.

I'm sure he was probably referring to the fact that the black guy always dies first in most every movie. Not to mention that it was a joke on a comedy show. I think it's great that, in a movie, a slave could kill all the white people, I mean considering that they are all slavers, and fictional, no big loss I say. |
How about a white guy get up there and says he gets to kill all black people in his movie, and it was great, would that be ok. Just want equality, that's all. What he said was wrong. Period. |
It's not the same, especially considering the whole slavery thing, especially considering he was talking about a movie where he played a slave. Also, considering the fact that black characters are more likely to die, and sooner, than white characters, it's not the same. The thing is that there isn't actual racial equality yet, and considering the deeply unequal past, there is a difference between the two. Period. |
blah, blah, blah. Blacks need to get on with it and quit whining about slavery. You can't blame a whole race and generation for something they had no part in. My grandparents came to the US in 1950. I haveas much to do with slavery as a 31 year old white dude in Russia right now--absolutely nothing.
Saying it was GREAT to kill ALLLLL the white people in the movie is not a joke. It wasn't funny. |
The white people in the movie were all slavers, and all had something to do with, obviously. Is it great to kill all the white slavers in a movie, sure why not, they're better targets than most of the people who get killed in a movie. Also, there still isn't racial equality, so it is different in that respect as well. I'm sure Foxx is sure sorry he said it, he'll lose the key sensitive white victim guy demographic. |
Well that's what I was wondering, too--if he felt like he shouldn't have said that because all of the whites that took what he said the wrong way and lost out on tons of revenue for the film. I bet DiCaprio and Tarantino weren't happy. He lost me from every buying a ticket, and I bet there's tons more from what I've read on the net. Oh well. |
Tarantino loves controversy, and why would DiCaprio care, he already got paid. Look at the subject matter of the film, if Tarantino was worried about offending overly sensitive whites with victim complexes he have never would have made the movie to begin with. It's made $126,593,378 in America already, so it's safe to say that you people aren't missed, and probably wouldn't have paid to see it anyways. |

Dude, lighten up. How can anyone be offended by a funny throw away line in a movie. And as someone already stated, he wasn't talking about killing white people. He was kiling white people who were either a) slave owners or b) persons who the bounty hunter dude was going to kill anyway. He doesn't set out to kill ordinary white folk, only those who had it coming. And since only white people could own slaves, it was they who had it coming. I'll tell you this, if I was an African slave in the South, and I'd endured and seen what I had, there'd be a few white folk I'd have happily killed. And if I needed to kill some slave owning scum in order to free my wife from slavery, I probably would have done it. Especially if they were coming at me with a gun, and it was ether me or some slave-owning bastard.
The movie needs to be put in context. Everyone who got a bullet ibn the movie deserved it. An excellent movie. And hilarious to boot.
This whitey liked it. |

Okay... but the movie is about black slaves in the South during that particular time period owned by white people. Saying "blacks should stop complaining about slavery" on a day-to-day basis is perfectly reasonable to say. But, saying he shouldn't talk about a movie he was in... about abusive white people... saying he was happy they got what they deserved... in a joking manner... on a comedy show... it's insanity.
Stop taking away context from everything. |

LOL. There were about as many Italian and Irish slaves as there are gyopos currently working here on E-2 type visas. In other words you can count them on one hand. And yeah, you're absolutely right. The Irish never hold a grudge about past wrongs. Just chill fella and enjoy an excellent movie. Were you as upset when the big tall blond woman killed hundreds of Asians with her sword in Kill Bill? (Who was that director again?)...No, not so much I'm guessing? Put down the latest copy of Stormfront pal and relax. Obama's not coming to get you with his big bad Negro army. Honestly, you can relax. |

You're wrong.. SO wrong. I almost didn't respond because you are so foolish, but here goes:
"The Irish slave trade began when James II sold 30,000 Irish prisoners as slaves to the New World. His Proclamation of 1625 required Irish political prisoners be sent overseas and sold to English settlers in the West Indies. By the mid 1600s, the Irish were the main slaves sold to Antigua and Montserrat. At that time, 70% of the total population of Montserrat were Irish slaves. "
You want to keep talking??
Every ethnic group was enslaved at some point--only blacks milk it for more than what it's worth. |

For Christ's sake man. We're talking about the United States here in the mid-19th century. We're discussing Django (remember)? Stay focused, boy. |

This statement is offensive. It's not funny or a joke. I'm not going to read anymore of Dodge7's posts. All I'm saying is that his post would get read so much more if he wasn't a moron. |

A black fellow joking about killing white slavers in a movie is not racism. This whole thing where the general public is really offended by racism, yet does not actually understand what it means is getting old. |

DiCaprio was truly terrifying in it. His rotten teeth, the angry outbursts all of it combined with his southern charm. He was really disturbing. |
