So I was accepted to teach in Busan this upcoming spring, and I was wondering who else was heading in that vicinity or, perhaps, is already there?

Have to admit, I'm quite excited, but also pretty nervous. Having a couple fellow Korean newb friends couldn't hurt.

I'm going to be in Busan with EPIK. I've never lived there but I've visited before. I really loved it, the beach was beautiful even in the winter (when I was there), so I can't wait to see it in the spring.

I can't tell you exactly what's good or not, but I can tell you things I'm planning to do when I get there based on research and friend recommendations:

Languagecast Busan is a monthly meet up that seems like a good place to meet people: http://www.facebook.com/languagecastbusan?ref=ts&fref=ts You can practice your Korean with Koreans who want to practice their English with you.

Shindogs is a Busan-based dog rescue that takes in abused and abandoned dogs. http://www.facebook.com/shindogs?fref=ts It's run with a "western influence" and most of the volunteers are teachers or expats of some sort or another. They are always looking for volunteers to care for and walk the dogs, which sounds like a fun and productive way to spend my down time and meet people.

If all else fails, there's always makgeolli. If I can't make any friends I plan on drinking myself into a stupor. There's no way I can hate my time in Korea if I can't remember it, right?
