Here are the dates for this year's semesters/tests:

http://i.imgur.com/2evkihH.jpg

For those doing level 5, the final test isn't until the end of April.

I still can't sign up for classes though. I'm in Seoul; I did level 4 at Ewha.

thatkidpercy, where are you located (if you don't mind me asking)?

If I remember right, you sign up using the 과정신청 tab? Or is there another way to register for a class? No classes come up when I try searching.

Hmm... I've just checked back on the Socinet site, and while I was able to sign up the other day, there's now nothing to show I'm registered for the next level, nor can I find the classes listed.

Stranger still, my local immigration office has now been changed from Suwon to Seoul. I wonder what that's about... Confused

The 과정신청 tab is correct - that's where I found the class information before.

Edit: I moved to Anyang back in September, which I've just found out is covered by the Seoul immigration centre, not Suwon as my previous address was. I guess that information has only now been updated on my record, forcing the information to change on Socinet. Really really hope I don't need to go into Seoul to take the level 5 classes every week as the place I went to before (under Suwon immigration centre) was only a few km from where I now live. We might well end up being classmates, furtakk!

Hey percy, furtakk, other folks~

I took Level 4 online in the fall.. It was my first level. The online classes start a few weeks late and end a few weeks late as well..

As my teacher explained, it seemed that there was a test in early November, for the people who had just finished level 4... We didn't finish until the end of November so we were unable to write that test.

1 - For the others who have finished level 4... Did you write a test right afterwards? What is that test like? I think was called 중간평가, interim assessment... Is it like the placement test?

2 - As my teacher explained, I can start level 5 before writing the interim assessment test. But, I need to write the test before I *finish* level 5. So I need to sign up for a Level 5 course that finishes after the interim test. Anyone else know about this?

Mostly looking for info on any 중간평가 you guys might have written.

Hmmm. Looking at furtakk's link, it looks like the 중간평가 is May 25. It also appears as though the first term is likely to finish before that date, in which case I will have to sign up for Level 5 courses in the second term.

I wonder what that 중간평가 is like.. I wrote the placement test in July 2012. It was an hour long, with a bunch of multiple choice questions and a speaking demonstration at the end.

How does that compare to the 중간평가?

Any tips on how to prepare for the 중간 test?

I wrote a post on page 18 of this thread (Nov 10th) about what the test was like.

Ah, thanks Percy, my mistake.. I even replied to you in November as well haha. Okay so it sounds like the speaking and writing was easy, perhaps easier than expected.

The reading sounds like it might have been a bit challenging, well at least for the level 2 and 3 test-takers.

Speaking and writing is definitely my stronger area, but I have never studied formally until starting level 4 of KIIP so my grammar and vocabulary is a bit weak. I'm going to brush up as much as I can before May...

The other poster saying the the final test was hard (and getting harder) is also a bit concerning. I have a habit of worrying too much about tests though...

I wonder what the pass rate really is.. I think I heard my instructor say it was around 20 or 25% for the final test.. Because a lot of people used to be able to skip levels 3 and 4 based on their marriage status.

If you have a F visa, should you register under "등록외국인". Everytime I try it says the name or number doesn't match.

Just wanted to ask whether you'd had any more luck in finding a level 5 class in Seoul yet? There are still no classes showing up on the website for me so I'll try making some phone calls this afternoon to chase up what's going on, but wanted to see if you'd found any new information since you posted your last message here? It's never quick nor painless when I call immigration....

Nope. Still nothing. I'm going to give my teacher a call tomorrow to see if she knows.

I doubt registration for courses will begin before the first pre-assessment test of the year. Probably a week or so after the results for that test are released.

I studied really hard for the Final Test including a lot about the cultural aspects of Korea. This was all in vain as there were only about 3 questions or so related to culture and history. Most of it was grammar related and there were also a few about which organizations handle certain issues (forgot the exact questions). Basically the 2-3 months of Studying the Intergration Program is purely to gain more knowledge about Korea. If your Korean level is good enough, you'll pass.

So i am applying for the placement test ... all I did was registering at 사회통합프로그램 신청 tab at socinet. Now when I click on 평가신청 this line appears:
2013 사전평가 2013년 사전평가 1차 2013.01.10 ~ 2013.02.01 2013.02.16 13:00

does that mean I am done with my registration ? what about exam location ? and when is the exam ticket gonna be available ? I feel like I am in the dark here !

yup, done.

They'll message you literally a couple of days before the test to give you time and location details.

Quite a few class locations are showing up for me now, and it looks like we can sign up starting from next week. I'm sure you've been fervently checking anyway, but a heads up just in case.

Yep just noticed. Only about 6 locations for me. Everything is afternoon/evening with the exception of one in Guro. Hopefully some more open up.
